Health insurance, also commonly referred to as iqama insurance is mandatory for every resident and visitor living in Saudi Arabia in order to facilitate them and their families with better healthcare.
To check your health insurance status and expiry date the Council of Health Insurance (CHI) Saudi Arabia has a dedicated service ‘CCHI Damaan‘ on its website and also on CHI app for Android and iPhone users.
Moreover, medical insurance is mandatory for iqama and work permit renewal and of course, getting health check-ups by paying a very small fee.

- CCHI Website
- CCHI App
- Absher
The CCHI Portal
- Visit the CCHI website.
- The “check insurance” page will open. Now enter the following details
- Identity Number: You can enter either of these two information
- Enter the 6-digit code
- Click on ‘OK’
On the next page, the CCHI system will show you the health insurance status, expiry date, and many other details including the Insurance company name, deductible percentage of the amount that you have to pay against the payable dues, and the insurance category/class (A, B or C).

Furthermore, the system shows the following message in case of expired insurance. “You don’t have Insurance.”
CCHI App
To check iqama insurance on the CHI app, do the following:
- Download and install CCHI App on your mobile
- Select your preferred language
- English
- Arabic
- Now login through the Nafath credentials, the National single sign-on
- On the next page, your insurance status, expiry date, class, and approval limit show under the “Mine” tab
- To check your dependents insurance, click on the “Dependents” tab to view the information.
Absher
You can check medical insurance in Absher because the Ministry of Interior keeps the status and expiry of your iqama insurance. The procedure is as follows.
- Log in to the Absher portal
- Click on ‘Health Insurance For Residents Information’ available Under the ‘Other Services‘ Tab,
- Enter Iqama number
- Enter the 4-digit image code and click on ‘View‘
- On the next page, Absher will display the iqama insurance status.
Check Iqama insurance Status For Dependents
You can also check health insurance status for your family members and dependents in Absher. For that purpose;
- Open the Absher portal and log in to your account. https://absher.sa/
- Click on ‘Family Members’
- Now select the ‘Inquiries‘ tab and click on ‘Query Health Insurance‘
- Select the family member from the drop-down list.
- The system will show you the medical insurance expiry date.
Check Health Insurance Expiry Date For Visit Visa Holders
The visit visa holders can also check their health insurance status and expiry date on the CCHI Saudi Arabia portal. To do that,
- Visit the CCHI portal
- Enter your passport number
- Enter the 6-digit code
- Now click on the ‘OK’
- The CCHI will display the health insurance status of the visitor along with the insurance expiry date, insurance company name, issue date, policy number, and the medical insurance type.
Check the Insurance Status Of a Tourist
The tourist visa holders can check insurance validity and status on CCHI platform in this way:
- Open Damaan on CCHI portal.
- Enter the passport number of the tourist
- Enter 6-digit code
- Click on “OK”
The medical insurance validity displays on the next page.
Insurance For Premium Iqama Holders
The procedure to check iqama insurance expiry date is similar as you can use both CCHI portal and the Absher platform. The process is as follows.
- Open CCHI website
- “Inquire about Premium Iqama Insurance” page will open.
- Enter either Iqama number or passport number.
- Enter the 6-digit code and click on “OK”
On the next page the CCHI will display health insurance status along with its expiry date, the insurance company name, the insurance class/category and, the issue date.
How to Update Health Insurance In Absher.
In case, you find that your iqama insurance has been renewed on the CCHI website but showing as “expired” in the Absher, you need not worry.
The health insurance status will automatically update within a few days because the Absher is linked with CCHI.

The CCHI insurance also results in terms of a great healthcare facility at a very low cost. And, the best part is that the sponsors pay for it.
Another aspect of having Saudi health insurance is that it is mandatory for the iqama renewal and issuance. Furthermore, a must requirement while applying for a family visa.
