You can check iqama status, issued or not on the Absher portal.
So you have reached Saudi Arabia on a work visa. In that case, you will eagerly await the issuance of iqama because,
Iqama is a legal document that the Saudi Government issues, allowing foreigners to live and work in Saudi Arabia.
Further, the expatriates can access various services, benefits, and activities, such as opening a bank account, buying a sim card, getting health insurance, entering government entities, buying a vehicle, and applying for a family visa to bring their loved ones to the KSA, etc.
The first step to check iqama status is knowing whether the iqama has been issued or is still pending. This can be done on the Absher portal in the following way.
Check Iqama Issued or Not
Requirements: Visa number & Visa issue date | Tool: Absher | Duration: 1-2 mins
Procedure:
- Open the Absher portal by clicking on the given link . www.absher.sa/wps/portal/individuals/
- Click on “Non_GCC Citizens”
- Enter the Visa number and Visa issue date
- Type the image code and click on “Inquire”
- If the the following message appears, “Sorry no border number found on the entered data.” then congrats! your iqama has been issued.
Note: Absher continues to show the border number until the Iqama is issued.
Check Iqama Number
After getting the iqama status now you can check iqama number using the border number ( also called Raqamul Hadood, رقم الحدود) on the Ministry of Labor portal.
Requirements: Border number | Tool: MOL Portal | Duration: 2-3 mins
Procedure:
- Visit the MOL Portal.
- Checkmark the “Consent” and click on “أقر وأتعهد“- the Green button to proceed (see the image below)
- Select the language – English | Urdu | Arabic
- Enter the Border number
- Enter the Date of Birth
- Type a 6-digit verification code and click on Next
The system will show the iqama number and a few other details which are as follows;
- Your Name
- Worker Number (MOL issues it when the sponsor pays the maktab amal fees)
- Your Working Status. (It means that you are present at your company and don’t have a huroob status)
- Organization’s Nitaqat status. ( The organization can be in any nitaqat category depending upon the number of Saudi citizens employed )
- And the status of the work license issued by MOL

Check Iqama Number With Passport Number
After the update in the system, it is no longer possible to check the iqama status with the passport number. Instead, You can only check the fee payment status required for iqama issuance.
Iqama Status Not Found?
3 months passed since your arrival in Saudi Arabia, and still, the iqama number is not issued. In that case, you are eligible to transfer sponsorship.
Furthermore, you don’t need approval from the employer. Just find a new job and get transferred.
