The National Center for the Development of Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification said, ” “Dumping waste in national parks is a violation costing a fine of up to SR2,000, and setting on fires in places other than its designated areas is a violation that triggers a fine of up to SR3,000,” the center warned in a statement.
The statement issued on Monday further stated that the fines and penalties will be imposed who harm and destroy the vegetation-covered areas in parks and in the forests.
In the statement, The executive regulation for the development of vegetation cover and combating desertification further warned that damaging fixed or moveable facilities, damaging or cutting fences, or tempering with border and signboards located in the forests and parks area is a violation that may result in a hefty fine of 3000 Saudi Riyals.
Earlier this year, the authorities banned the illegal cutting and logging of trees. The ministry has specified penalties to the violators, imprisonment up to 10 years, or a fine of up to 30 million Saudi Riyals if the violations are committed twice a year.
The new laws and regulations apply to all persons, citizens, and residents in Saudi Arabia, and targets to regulate the transportation, import, and sale of charcoal and firewood.
The ministry also stated the violations that will trig the fines. These violations include cutting the trees and shrubs from protected areas and reserves, moving, uprooting, or stripping them of leaves, roots, or any other part.
The violations also include moving their soil, bulldozing, or trading them without a valid license.
