Jawazat, The Saudi Directorate General of Passports, has asked the expats and the residents living in Saudi Arabia to renew their iqama in due time. Failing to renew iqama within the due date would result in terms heavy fines and penalties.
Jawazat has urged the workers and the expats to renew their residency documents and iqama cards at least three days before their expiry dates to avoid penalties.
In case the residency permit is not renewed within the stipulated time, Jawazat puts a fine of SAR500 upon first time violation, SAR1000 for the second time, and the deportation if the expat fails for the third time.
Failure to have a valid residency permit in Saudi Arabia is punishable by a fine of SR500 for the first time, SR1,000 for the second violation, and deportation for the third time violation.
The expats can easily verify and check iqama expiry date and validity. They can also apply for the renewal of iqama by visiting and logging into the Ministry of Interior portal “Absher” or the dedicated electronic portal “Muqeem”.
It is also to be noted that foreigners working and living in Saudi Arabia have a population of around 10.5 million. while the total population of Saudi Arabis is around 34.8 million people.
