Absher is a portal of the Ministry of Interior Saudi Arabia. Its primary aim is to provide Governmental Services online to the residents (expatriates) and citizens. It was released in 2015, and now it has become mandatory to register an Absher account for everyone living in Saudi Arabia.

Absher is an ancient Arabic word; its meaning in English is ‘Bringing Good News.’ The other meaning is ‘Rejoice.’ In Urdu, it means ‘خوشی کی خبر دینا.’ While in Malayalam, it means ‘സന്തോഷിപ്പിൻ.’

The Portal has plenty of great features and provides more than 160 services. Before the launch, One has to visit many offices for a single piece of work. But now you can avail all services online from anywhere at any time.
Now you can apply for a visit visa or family visa ( Istiqdam), Make Government Appointments, Renew Driving License, and Ictimara ( Vehicle Registration). You can also renew iqama of your dependants online.
Furthermore, you can inquire about many things. You can check iqama expiry or validity, and you can also check kafeel name. If any legal case is registered against you, Absher provides the service to find it. You can also query traffic violations and penalty fees, iqama available funds, and many others.
How Absher Works
To avail of all the great features and services, you need to register an account on the Absher portal. Once you have registered the account, then you need to activate it. For account activation, You need to provide thumb impressions electronically.
You can do it by visiting the nearest Jawazat office. You can also activate the account by visiting nearest moi self-service kiosk machine. These machines are available in every city of Saudi Arabia. Most of them are installed in mega shopping malls. Therefore you can avail of the service at any time.
The third option for activation is that you can use your online bank account or ATM — anyhow this option is for those who already have a bank account. As per the new system, you cannot open a bank account unless you have an Absher account.

How to Use Absher Portal
Before, the portal was available for PCs and desktop only. But now moi has launched Absher app, as well, to facilitate maximum people. The app is available for android and apple phones.
Whenever you need to use the portal, then log in by providing username and password. At the time of registration, you choose a username and set a password. You will give the details, and after that, you will receive a message on your mobile number. Enter it and you are logged into the portal.
Once logged in successfully, you will land on the Absher DashBoard. From here, you can select the desired service.
