Iqama is the resident permit for expats to live in Saudi Arabia. Companies renew iqama of their employes every year by paying certain fees. There are three different Iqama fees to process the resident permit in 2021.
You can check them online quickly. There are a few methods to check iqama fees. And, I am going to explain to them one by one. Furthermore, you will also be able to confirm whether the iqama fees are paid or not.

Check Iqama Fees 2021
Below are the iqama fees for the year 2021 and 1442 according to the Hijri calendar. These are yearly based. The companies/ kafeels pay them at the time of iqama renewal. You can check iqama fees according to your Category.
Please note that the amount of health insurance fees can be different as it varies. So I am taking an average cost for it, in all categories.
Iqama Fees for House Workers (House Drivers, Saiq Khas, Maids, Farmers, Herders, etc.)

You can observe in the above category that house drivers ( Saiq Khas) don’t pay maktab e amal fee. That’s why their iqama renewal is the cheapest one.
For Small Companies (1-5 Workers)

Iqama Fees For Medium and Large Companies With Less Than Required Saudi Workers

For the wife, the fee is 500 Riyals annually. The dependant levy which is 300 riyals per month, may increase to 400 riyals in 2021. However, it is a possibility that govt. is likely to keep the same levy from 2020, 2021, 2020 to onward. There is also a possibility of a waiver of the fee in 2021. As the corona has affected the income of everyone throughout the world.
In a recent move, Saudi Govt has decided to collect the dues on a quarterly basis. so now you don’t need to pay at once but an equal amount after every 3 months.
Check Iqama Fees Whether Paid Or Not
Now, Let’s check iqama fees whether they are paid or not. You can check them online. I am enlisting the procedures to confirm them easily.
Moreover, if your iqama renewal is delaying, you can check its reason. In case the fees are unpaid, then it means the cause of delay is financial.
Maktab Amal (Work Permit Charges) 2021
Companies pay maktab e Amal ( Wazarat Amal) fee for expat workers. The Govt. receives it at the time of issuance/ renewal of iqama. You can also check it quickly. There is also good news about it. The authorities are thinking to waive makat amal fees due to the corona pandemic crisis. If the order issues for the waiver, then it would be a great benefit to expat community.
Here is the procedure.
- Visit to the ministry of social welfare and labor website. Click Here
- From the drop-down menu, select ‘خدمة رخص العمل‘
- If you are facing a delay in the renewal of iqama, then enter iqama number, but if, it is a delay in the new iqama issuance then enter the border number. It is a 10 digit code. You will find it on the passport and written by hand.
- Enter the captcha code and click on ‘بحث.‘
If maktab amal has received the fee, then it will say “تم السداد.” Which means the payment is received. But if it is unpaid, It will show, ‘منتهية الصلاحية.’ which means the fee is payable.

Iqama Issuance/Renewal Payments in Jawazat (Passport Office)
The second payment to check is the fee that is paid to jawazat. it appears in Absher under ‘Passport fee.’ It is the only iqama fee that you can deposit online in the passport office account in Saudi Arabia.
To check it, you need an Absher account. The rest of the procedure is as follows.
- Log in to the Absher account.
- Click on Dashboard
- Scroll a little down to see the Passport tab. If your company has paid an iqama fee, then it will show there. The cost is 650 riyals for everyone except house workers. Because they pay 600 riyals only.
Health insurance Charges
The last payable iqama fee is health insurance. MOI (ministry of interior) makes sure that every expat has valid health insurance before renewing or issuing iqama. There is a portal to check its status. If you have insurance, then you don’t need to verify it.
Anyhow, there are many cases when it is unpaid — therefore causing a delay in iqama issuance/renewal. You can view if it is paid or unpaid. Also, you can check its validity by following the given method.
- Go to the health portal. Click here
- Enter iqama number, captcha code, and click on ‘OK.’
- If the insurance is valid, you will see its detail as shown in the pic below. in case it needs renewal, then it says,” you don’t have valid insurance.”
